This Saturday’s game against Long Island is going to offer our fans a way to give back while also receiving something for their act of charity. New Balance will be teaming up with the Cannons this week for a Trade in Your Stick promotion. We are asking our faithful fans to bring in their old sticks and donate them to MetroLacrosse to help a young person receive something that they might not otherwise be able to afford.
New Balance is going to thank these fans by giving them a coupon for 20% off at the Warrior + Brine Outlet Store in Allston. This coupon can be used for any purchase of a new stick.
MetroLacrosse is a non-profit organization that promotes positive youth development and access to educational opportunities through the sport of lacrosse. The program serves more than 700 young people in Boston, Brockton, Chelsea and Lawrence and is the largest urban lacrosse and education program in the country.
Fans will be able to drop their sticks off at the front gates to Harvard Stadium prior to walking into the game. No team in Boston has a better fan base than the Cannons, let’s prove that they are also the most generous!
Cannons vs. Lizards in 2010
In the first match-up for the Lizards and Cannons in the 2010 season, the Lizards took an 8-4 lead into halftime. By the third quarter, they had managed to run up their score to 11-4. It was not until the fourth quarter that the Cannons started to come alive. Despite Matt Poskay’s four total goals, and three straight goals by the Cannons, they were unable to beat the Lizards, losing 13-11. When the two teams met again, the Lizards were leading 13-5 at the half and it seemed as if the Cannons were headed for the same fate, but the team was not ready to give up. The Cannons dominated the second half with a ten-goal run. The Lizards were shocked when the Cannons defeated them 17-14.
